Our take
Scioto Prairie opens for business by appointment the day after Thanksgiving, and its 2026 page says it operates by appointment only. Appointments run on Black Friday and the weekends that follow, in 3-hour windows in the morning or the afternoon, and the farm says customers should expect to spend about an hour on the farm. Every appointment comes with free hot cocoa and popcorn and nativity book readings for children, and the barn sells handmade wreaths, table top trees, smores, baked goods and local crafts. The tree selection includes Balsam, Canaan and Concolor Fir, White Pine, and Black Hill, Blue and Serbian Spruce. The farm accepts credit cards, cash and checks, with a small transaction fee on low-value card payments. Its pricing table is labeled 2024, so we show it only as reference. Book a window on the scheduler, and keep the hour-long visit in mind when you plan the rest of the day.
