About this site

How we build the farm lists, what our labels mean, and how ads and cookies work here.

Editorial method

We start from two public directories: pickyourownchristmastree.org and the Ohio Christmas Tree Association member pages. We use them only to find farms. Then we read each farm's own website and quote it. Every detail shown on a card or a farm page is a word-for-word quote from the farm's own site, with a link to the page and the date we fetched it. Before each update a script fetches every page again and checks that every quote is still there word for word; a quote that has gone isn't shown.

We never use Facebook, Instagram or Reddit as a source, and we never try to get past a site's bot check. Farms we can't quote from their own site are listed with their name and website and the note "Listed without details", with the reason.

How to read the labels

How often we recheck

The Ohio list was fully checked on October 12, 2026. We plan to recheck in early November, when most farms post their 2026 dates, and again during the season for sell-outs and early closings.

Corrections

If you run a farm or spot a mistake, email hello@cutyourowntree.com with the farm name and a link to where the correct information is posted. We fix verified errors and do not charge for listings or corrections.

Advertising disclosure

This site is supported by ads served by Google AdSense. Advertisers do not pay for listings, placement or what we say about any farm. No farm has paid to be included.

Privacy

We don't ask for accounts or collect your name or email through the site. The ZIP code and date you enter in the trip planner stay in your browser and are not sent to us. We use Google Analytics to count visits, and Google AdSense to show ads. Both use cookies and similar technologies to measure use and, for ads, may personalize what you see. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy, and manage ad personalization at Google Ad Settings.
